1970's Drab Rental Home to Wow, We Love our Home,
-
From This Home.....
To This.....
Joe and Gail came to Nashville from Atlanta in 1998 and settled into this 1972 built ranch home located on an established private golf course in Hendersonville that initially they rented. The house had a Tudor siding and brick exterior. The inside included vinyl kitchen flooring, a harvest gold hall bathroom and green tiled bathroom in the Master. The kitchen appliances were original 1972 Whirlpool vintage that included a double oven and an electric stove. Built on site pine kitchen and bathroom cabinets with yellow laminate countertops, this 4 bedroom 2 bath home served them well until all their kids were gone and they were faced with the fact that they just couldn't find the right building lot in which to build a new custom home.
What they loved most about the home was it's location - close to town and it's relaxing setting on a private and established golf course. Then one day a thought came to Joe's mind. As a General Contractor, Joe and his team renovated numerous homes for many of his customers, so why not buy the home they were temporarily renting and renovate it from top to bottom. At first, Gail was skeptical, but it took her all of 5 minutes to weigh the facts an decided YES..... let's do it. After purchasing the home, they began to plan the changes they wanted to make to the home, including making changes to the existing floor plan. You won't believe the transformation but let me tell you about what has been done.
The approach the took to the renovation was to keep what was needed, remove what was not and use that space more efficiently. As for the exterior, they were fine with the brick but the Tudor look was dated and had to go.
For the front of the house, they decided to add a large front porch with an oversized gabled roof, wrapped Western Cedar posts set atop 4 stack stone columns. The base of the porch was faced with the same stacked stone, and the underside of the gabled roof easy stained and sealed T&G Bead Board. The twin ceiling fans provide for added comfort during the warm summer nights and dimmable can lights provide the lighting when needed.
Replacing the dated Tudor styled front of the house was new twin double hung windows, Hardie Color Plus lap siding, Hardie soffit panels and new seamless gutters for the entire home. A new circular driveway adds to the convenient access to the front of the home and improves the curb appeal of the home. Finishing off the exterior of the home is a newly designed deck out back for outside entertainment with friends.
Inside, both bathrooms have been fully redesigned and updated, hardwood and tiled floors replace the dated carpet and vinyl. A new 10' foyer, new 1/2 bath for guests off the foyer, new laundry room, new private office, formal dining room open to the kitchen and a separate walk in pantry with custom shelving changed the entire look and feel of this home that is perfectly sized ranch home designed for comfortable living and entertaining.
